D&H Water Tanks are supplied with 1x Tank outlet as standard (2″) We can offer different sizes to suit your requirements, and offer additional outlet connections.

Need to store more Water?
Whether you have an existing water storage tank or you have an application where you require multiple storage tanks for large volumes of water, our Tank2Tank connection kit is designed to make light work of ‘joining tanks together’. This innovative kit consists of 2x 2″ BSP Male nipples, 2x 2″ 1/4 turn Ball Valves x 2″ male camlock coupler, 2x 2 ” Female hose camlock couplers and a 1x 1 mtr length of 2″ medium dutygreen flexible reinforced hose. The hose can be supplied in any length, or can be cut down to size to keep Storage tanks as close to each other as possible.

Base sizes and concrete requirements.
Storage tanks require a solid concrete base due to the weight of the tank when full of water. We recommend that the concrete base should be at least 150mm wider than the base of the wall of the tank (300mm more than the Diameter). The thickness of the concrete base should be 150mm (6″) The above drawing shows a ‘square’ concrete base, but if the base was circular you would obviously save money on concrete.
Please use the following table for Base sizes and concrete requirements.
Capacity (litre) | Tank Diameter | Concrete Base size (Square) | Weight when Full of water (approx.) | Miniumum Concrete Required (approx.) |
1250 | 1200 | 1500x1500mm | 1242kg | 0.33m³ |

The above table is a guide. Please check calculations prior to installation of the tank.
Installing a Ball cock Float Valve

Water Tanks are generally filled by either a Ball cock float valve, or are filled by diverting Rainwater from roofs via gutters and downpipes. For more information on Rainwater Harvesting please look at www.dandhgroup.co.uk/rainwater-harvesting/
- Drill out with a holesaw the correct size hole to suit your Ball cock valve. The valve should be as high as possible for maximum tank capacity The Valve also needs to be a tight fit so that the backing nut and the seal tighten up correctly agianst the tank (see fig 2.) If you drill the hole too big, the valves can pull through the tank wall.
- Install Ball cock float valve inside the tank, put rubber seal on thread on the outside of the tank, then fasten with the backing nut. NOTE: To make installation as easy as possible, we recommend putting the valve near the access hatch at the top of the tank which will mean you will not have to enter the tank for installation.
- Make sure the valve hangs vertically in the tank.
- Apply PTFE tape on the male thread, then put a 90 degree BSP x pipe compression fitting and tighten.
- Insert pipe (debur) into compression fitting and tighten
Please note that we stock a wide range of fittings and adaptors. Please contact us today with your requirements.
The size of the Ball cock float Valve normally depends on the size of your water main. Please refer to the following chart to check what size your ball cock valve should be:-
Metric to Imperial pipe sizes
Water supply pipes nowadays tend to be MDPE Blue (Plastic) pipes. To determine what size your water supply pipe, measure the O.D (Outside Diameter) of the pipe. See diagram below.

- 20mm – 1/2″
- 25mm – 3/4″
- 32mm – 1″
- 40mm – 1 1/4″
- 50mm – 1 1/2″
- 63mm – 2″
